A life of service.
Erin has served a variety of municipal governments over the past 27 years, primarily in municipal finance, economic development, and administration management. She is called to help others understand:
the municipal finance ecosystem
economic development from the perspective of the finance department
how these intersect with leadership, and
how using this knowledge can help people become better self-leaders
Erin is called to write, to plan, to think, to analyze, to preserve knowledge, and to lead from where she is, no matter which position she happens to occupy. She loves the process as much as the outcome, and uses her creativity in her thinking and analysis. She has been called a ‘fixer’ and enjoys ‘solving mysteries’ in municipal government by organizing thoughts, information, and data to help others learn about whatever it is they need to learn about.
Sometimes that looks like teaching a workshop on leadership, or helping a City know whether to invest resources in a project (or when to avoid it!), and sometimes it involves breaking complex ideas into manageable, learnable bits of information that help others tell the story or do the work. Erin is called to help others preserve their knowledge, gain new knowledge, and to help them think through and solve problems in their lives and organizations.
In the past she’s held certifications as a property tax assessor/collector (RTA) through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and an Economic Development Finance Professional certification through Grow America. She’s also been a consultant, online course developer, and small business owner who loves connecting with fellow municipal government leaders, community stakeholders, veterans, artists, other entrepreneurs, and those who support them.
Erin believes everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, and that everyone is a leader, regardless of whether they supervise anyone or not. Read her leadership philosophy.
Erin is a veteran of the US Army, holds a BBA in Management from Northwood University (2005), an MS in Organizational Leadership from the CU-Boulder (2021), and is currently working on a doctorate degree in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Texas Lutheran University.
Erin is a great friend, artist, writer, spreadsheet nerd, and music lover. She is the proud mother of two grown sons and their wives.
